Photographer's Note

Hello friends and companion, today I offer you this composition with a beautiful facade, in the charming Alsatian village of Ribeauvillé, I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.

Ribeauvillé in French and officially, Rappschwihr in Alsatian, Rappoltsweiler in German, is a French town and commune located in the department of Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace region.

Its inhabitants receive in French the name of Ribeauvillois and Ribeauvilloises. It is one of the wine production centers of the Alsace Wine Route, located north of the departmental capital Colmar and 75 km south of Strasbourg.

Known in the 13th century as Rathaldovilare, the town passed from the bishops of Basel to the lords of Rappoltstein. The lord of Rappoltstein was the king or protector of the wandering minstrels of the earth, who bought his protection through the payment of a tax.

When the family began to die out in 1673, this trade (Pfeiferkönig) passed to the palatine accounts of Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld. The minstrels had a pilgrimage chapel near Rappoltsweiler, dedicated to their patron saint, Maria von Dusenbach, and an annual party is held here every September 8. Ribeauvillé was commonly known as Rappoltsweiler until the 19th century.
