Photographer's Note

IN the shade of the Mount Tartas volcano of 1348 m, Saint-Paul village is surrounded of wood and pathes. Since the Fifties at our days the village was gradually emptied of its originating inhabitants of which there remains about sixty local people.
The main reason of this exodus, it is the will of the young people to want to live near the large cities. Gradually the tradesmen closed shop, the baker, butcher; post office, the coffee of the village and the school closed recently.
The majority of the dwellings built out of stones of lava were sold to English and Dutch nationality as second summer homes.
The winter is quite sad in this village.
It was especially a message which I made a point of transmitting.

Picture taken between two storms.
