Little House on the Prairie, a photo from Auvergne, Central

Photographer's Note

Ingalls family was not there but I found the little house on the prairie ! This house stands on a small hill over Geneste pass, 1,372 metres height. This pass links Picherande and Super-Besse ski station. It is the departure points for hill walkings to Puy de Sancy, the highest point in Auvergne (1,885 metres height). I think it may be too on the way of skiing tracks. The house dominates the valley and its shape top of the hill can be seen many kilometres around, so it is a very eye catching place. I drove a few times at the end of the day off this house, but I never could have good light conditions, because of the sun hiding behing mountains around. Sometimes I was just a few seconds too late ! But that evening I decided to come earlier to take the most of the sunset light and I could catch this great moment on photography ! I asked myself about the use of this house and had no response. It stands in the middle of prairies, no sign of life, all shutters closed but in very good state. Maybe a shelter for skiers on winter ?

Je croyais que c'était une maison bretonne ! Mêmes solides murs de pierres et toit d'ardoises .
J'aime beaucoup cette contre plongée , les couleurs chaudes , le léger tilt qui fonctionne très bien .

Hello Olivier,
The wonderful POV makes this little house seem very isolated against the expanse of sky. The red shutters are important elements and I like the way that you have captured the grasses and flowers in the FG. Excellent quality image - love it!

You have chosen a great point of view to provide with such an interesting sight of that house. The yellow field foreground is absolutely attractive and makes a good contrast to the building. Well done. TFS.

Un très beau point de vue au ras du sol. Une belle contre plongée qui donne de l'ampleur à la maison solitaire. Un ciel parfait comme arrière plan.

Là, tu avais tout ce qu'il fallait : la belle lumière du soir, le très joli ciel en arrière plan et le parfait POV. Tout ça donne une belle photo où on admire les pierres (volcaniques?) de la façade et les volets rouges qui créent un bon contraste.

i noticed this one right away!
There are so many wonderful elements on display....
the clouds, the low POV making the house seem taller and more dominant, the red shutters, the brickwork, the angled rooftop, and of course the sunlight!
I also enjoyed reading your note, and how much time and effort you put into collecting this photo!

tu as utilisé un grand cadrage dans une bonne contre-plongée, pour mettre en valeur l'architecture simple de cette maison avec les volets rouges, au milieu de la prairie, avec les épis dorés que nous voyons entre l'herbe dans l'avant-plan.
La perspective de la maison vers le ciel est très intéressante, il y a une bonne luminosité et des belles couleurs.
C'est une belle composition.
