Photographer's Note

Town of Tammisaari (or Ekenäs in Swedish, majority of the population is Swedish speaking) was founded already in 1546. Partly due to political reasons it never grew to a big city. Thus the old town is still quite picturesque with narrow alleys and buildings from 1700's and 1800's. Church of Tammisaari was built in late 1600's. The present Neoclassical form of the church was designed by Italian-born architect Charles Bassi in 1839–1842 following a fire in 1821.
