Summer evening in marina, a photo from Southern Finland, South

Photographer's Note

This was taken during our August evening walk around Haukilahti marina, which I have shown already many times from various POVs and at various times of the year. This one is from the western side of the bay, where the marina is located. We had a short walk along a seashore outdoor trail "Rantaraitti", which follows the southern shore of Espoo. The total length of the trail is about 30 kilometres. More about this marina and the village where it is located can be read here.

Hello Lasse,
It's beautiful to find a marina completely surrounded by trees. Most probably not that unusual in Finland.
I like your framing with the branches of the trees and the wooden pier in T-shape makes an excellent foreground for the view of the boats.

Hi Lasse,

It must have been very nice walk, near the shore and with view of the marina. And you went all these 30 kilometers?? In good weather, why not. wonderful calmness. in the evening all boats (and owners) go to sleep.

Hej Lasse,
This is a fine view and a very carefully composed picture. The jetty leads me into the composition towards the boats costing a considerable amount of money. Soon this fine evening light will be gone, but on this day there was still time to capture the beautiful atmosphere of a Nordic summer day. The light was obviously difficult but it has been very well handled. I doubt that I could have taken this photo with such good result with an Ixus.

A very peaceful and pleasant place. The jetty and the boat are placed in the composition. The fact that they are in the shadow enhances the view of the marina in the sun across the bay. But I am surprised that Google only provide nighttime satellite pictures...

it is not only the moody colors of the North that makes this impression of this already well known place very attractive, it is also the perspective. The gentle light that is so nicely illuminating the boats is also wonderful. My compliments!

back from Teulada...
you had a good idea to post this one. the place is deserving and your composition very pleasant. I like how you have framed the boats with the trees branches and the floating pontoon in foreground is very effective in creating a great sense of depth and in leading the eye towards the boats. Furthermore there is a lovely summer evening atmosphere and pleasant reflections. You managed the lighting very well here.

Superb balance between shadows and light, great perspective and depth, created by the pier and the boat in the foreground.
