Photographer's Note

Continuing the theme of the different means of transport around the world I'd like to show you the original small steam train which is going among the finnish heart's forasts. The museum narrow-gauge railway operates between Humppila and Minkiö since 1971 when the real freight trific was stoped. It uses the original carrages and steam engines. The railway gauge is 750 mm wide and the line length is 14 km.

The train trip looks like the getting back in time. A small steam locomotive is standing in the front of train of old wooden coaches. People are slowly boarding a train in a front of an old wooden station building. The bell of station sounds three times. There is a loud whistle of a locomotive and a journey begins. There is a smell of smoke in the air. The train is passing through beautiful countryside landscape of Häme province. Outside cows are starring the passing train. After the fields there is a stretch of forest and then again open fields. There is a low whistle in the air. A brakeman is turning the brake handle. The train is slowing down and finally stopping. An old lady boards the train at Raemäki halt. The journey continues. The train is slowly picking up speed. The conductor is checking the tickets and announces: "Next Kirkkotie, and after that Jokioinen!"... Hope you enjoy the shot and have a nice weekend.
