Photographer's Note
Another image from our (Shirgold and I) amazing Safari up in the cold wilderness of Kussamo, Finland.
As well as snow mobiles and dog sledding, Finland also has ice climbing to offer.
I must admit it was one of the most demanding sports I've ever tried and you certainly felt afterwards muscles that you never even thought existed!!

Beautiful composition with almost the complete climber against the sky, nicely framed by the tree and, well, the tree-rock-thing. Also a nice colour contrast. A new favourite picture of mine.

ice climbing, yeah, that´s something different than hiking the negev..*g*
hi david, this looks really exhausting,
but you still had enough power to take a great photo.
i really like the contrast between the pure
white snow/ice and the amazing dark blue sky
and of course colorful red shirgold.
great job & best wishes from cologne, thorsten.

Hi David, I love the deep red against the wonderful blue sky, the two colours are awesom, your POV is excellent & the white snow contrasts very nicely with the rest of the shot, stunning & well composed, kind regards Wilson.

Hi David,
This looks downright precarious - not something for me for sure! I love the colors - the red is striking against the dark blue sky offset by the white snow in the foreground. Great shot and thanks for sharing. Gerald

Hi David
I have always heard the ice climbing is amazing in Finland. I would love to go and check it out. The ice season here in Korea is only a couple of months. Nice comp and vivid colors. The climber really pops in the red. Is this taken in an ice park? Interesting formations of ice and snow blown against the one tree, Anyhow nice image of this guy being lowered. Well done.

Hello David -
Excellent vivid colors here. This is an image where color is all important and you nailed it. Exposure is spot on with an appropriate DOF. Well done!

Hi David,
the POV is a bit strange ;-)
The colours together are great. White snow, red dress and blue sky have great contrasts. With this good light management on the ice structures a lot of details to detect.

Hi David,
Excellent compo you're showing us, with the ice climber, wearing a vibrant red suit, almost reaching the top. The white of the snow is well exposed and there are beautiful color contrasts. Light and framing are good too. It goes to my theme 'more fav.pictures'.
Cheers

Hi David,
Quite an amazing shot. There is nothing in the outdoors so dramatic in my view than the contrast of blue and red hues, and with masses of snow thrown in, its off the chart...This low angle POV is also effective in dramatizing the slope and providing a view of the rope line. Good clarity and sharpness overall. First rate, David. Congrats...later.

Hi David,
Another of your great Finland collection. Wonderful bright clear colors highlight the effort that goes in such a climb. Fantastic action shot which conveys the tremendous muscle strain required to reach the top.

Bonjour David,
je suis en admiration devant la propreté des blancs, bien balancés et bien exposés. Une vue en contre plongée qui accentue la difficulté à grimper cette montée.
Un ciel d'un bleu bien généreux.
Amicalement.
Daniel.

Hello David! This one is stunning! The colors are very vibrant and the red suit of your fellow hiker makes a brilliant contrast. You handled the exposure well, the whites are bright but we can still see detail in the snow.
Well done!

For a white snow...
For a brain beside the photo...
For some other photos in your gallery...
Please, don't be amused David, by my critiques...( shall I say: their number - rather !).
It's not that easy to find someone new on TE with some guts and some logic behind the posts...
There are few photos left... I'll be back
