Photographer's Note
View of Lake Inari (Inarijärvi) from Ukonsaari. The island has been recognized as a sacred site for the Sami, but the name also refers to the most prominent god in Finnish mythology. Being here, I couldn't help remembering the creation story at the beginning of the Kalevala, and the part set to music by Sibelius in "Luonnotar."
