Photographer's Note

Well may be I haven’t tried hard enough but this seems to be my first Heron worth posting – also to prove that I’m still shooting.

This heron was seeking a morning snack in the Local pond of Vester Skerninge, a small village at the southern of Fyn with say 2000 inhabitants – I was passing by at the road right next to the little (very) green pond and had to make a U-turn in order to get this. However am I not sure that there’s any life of interest for that bird of prey.

For 150 years ago was the purpose of the pond to act as a reservoir of water in case of fire – until that time was most house tacked with straw and all farms was situated very close together at the centre of the village - A single lightning or spark could be catastrophic.

Now a days most houses with brick roofs and the farms moved out at the open – but the pond remains as a memory of old days – for the benefit of Herons as well.

I almost forgot – I believe it’s a Fountain which serves as resting place for the predator.
