Photographer's Note
Denmark was for years divided by 18 km wide water – Great belt - which people had to cross by boat or ferries.
But since 1997 has it been possible to travel here by car and train as well – The train connection goes through a tunnel, half the way and the rest of the way shares it a bridge parallel with the “wheel-vehicles” (not shown on this photo).
The East Bridge is the most impressive part of the Great Belt connection – Its 6790 meters long - the pylons (towers) 254 meters high and the distance between the pylons 1624 meters – which the second largest in the world only beaten by this bridge in Japan - Thanks Daniel.
For some months ago a lucky man drove car #50.000.000 over the bridge – lucky him because he was invited to visit the top the pylons on a clear day – surely a sight I would like to shot.
I got this shot in the daybreak, where the night spotlight still was on.
Actually did I use the car roof as tripod - and I was in a hurry for a meeting in Copenhagen.
(Ups the year was 1997 instead of 1987 - thanks Richard)

Wow...looks really cool! As if the bridge led to another planet or something...it's so gigantic! Could be from Star Wars or so! :-)
Great pic!

Very nice exposure Jeppe. Just as Leonie wrote: it has a science-fiction look with the lights on the cables and the flashes of headlights of the moving cars.

Fantastic bridge shot, of one of the worlds most impressive bridges. Perfect time of day for this. But surely you've got the date 10 years out, I think I remember hearing about this opeing in the late 90s.

Le temps de pose choisi permet malgré l'obscurité, de distinguer pas mal de choses au sujet de ce pont gigantesque. Il a des aspects métaliques.

Great capture : good exposure, good DOF. The frame gives an impression of gigantism. You use car roof as tripod ! usually, the picture is vagueness (i tryed it, there always vibrations).
Beautiful photo !
Thanks for sharing

Very good framing; I like the color of the sky and the spot-on exposure (no washed out lights on the bridge

Good shot of the bridge Jeppe. Not to late in the evening keeping the blue in there is always good I think. Last time I crossed I had the wife 'under the seat' - to much wind for her, and later they closed for a periode.

Glad you stopped, Jeppe, it's a beautiful photo you got here. The angle is pretty much ideal to get a fine glimpse of the two main pylons, and also the "wave" shape of the road and the approach ramps is very well rendered that way. Wonderful atmosphere from all the lights and the first touch of color in the sky. Great shot.

Yes Jeppe, this time you had a great subject to catch and the moment of the day adds a lot. The pylons are impressive and give very well the idea of what a great opera was built .. but wait because I will show you the incredible bridge upon the Straits of Messina. Yes, wait and hope :)))

Åh, Jeppe, dette billede er fantastisk! Jeg ville også gerne tage et sådant billede af enten Storebæltsbroen eller Øresundsbroen, men jeg er ikke i DK i den kommende tid, desværre. Men dit billede her er vidunderligt! Lyset er meget smukt. Mange tak for det her billede af et af Danmarks højdepunkter!

I have crossed this bridge many times and I must say this is a very impressive photo of it. I think you must have used the full zoom. And there is no noise in spite of the dark sky. Did you filter later? And what ISO position did you use? I get more and more interested in the FZ20. The two different colours of sky and water are also very pleasant.

It's a great photo and a very impressive bridge. A nice link for Denmark itself, but for Europe as well.
Nice job!

I heard about this bridge and it remind me when I was on Normandy bridge in november last year. The framing and the light are excellent. Great picture!

This is great, Jeppe, you've chosen a POV creating a wonderful composition of this lovely bridge. As much as I like Øresundsbron with it's four separate and free pylons, I think this bridge has a beauty in the bow and slender, which make it sort of float in the air. You've been able to catch that lightness - as well as the light - in an exquisite image, where the different sources of light are well balanced. Very well done - especially for a shot in a hurry!

Sure that this one is great and the height of the bridge supported by the lights helps. What to say, you have done well. Very great bridge indeed, impressive...

Very great, Jeppe!
I know this bridge. Nice to see it back. The quality of the picture is good. The sky has such a nice lilla colour. I like the little lights on the bridge and the lights of the cars.

Hej Jeppe,
Excellent night shot, sharpness is good, shooting time appropriate while the sky is not fully dark, I like the spectacular effect of the rising pillars and also the lights of the passing traffic;
Hope you did not arrive too late at your meeting...

Hi Jeppe
I like the compressed perspective from using a zoom lens. Good compositional curves & diagonals. The blurred traffic lights of the moving vehicles are a bonus, as they convey busyness.

The bridge itself is a nice object to see but the moment of the day you choosed brings out more beauty. I also think that this photo is not technically easy (light, distance) and you solved it brilliantly.
I have crossed four or six times the bridge that connects Denmark with Sweden, but I do not think this is the same one, is it ?

I do remember when travelling through this bridge in a very foggy day, though I still managed to get some decent pictures through the windshield with the car moving.
That makes me remember, where did you stopped the car to take this photo? I'm curious.
It's difficult to tell from your picture that the bridge is so big as other pictures I've seen of it in books, so you really got a great angle.

Fantastic, fairy-like lights in this picture with the bridge, what an architecture. Also the foreground with the nature is very well chosen, a great shot !

Well people in here say I have a thing for bridges and maybe they're right :) I'm amazed by the fact that 50.000.000 car's already passed this bridge cause I know ow big the fare is at least for trucks.
A very great pic on the "Stora-Bält-bron" The night light gives it a special magic touch
well done again Jeppe

This is such an elegant and graceful bridge. The tall towers, arching deck and that it crosses such a large expanse all add together. Your point of view really captures that well, compressing the graceful lines of the main cables. The lighting is beautifully managed and the exposure gives a nice capture of the moving traffic as well as water making it nice and smooth, just like the surface of the towers. Very well seen and captured.

Great shot! Colors are wondefull and the deepness is very perceptible!
