Photographer's Note

In Denmark it is an old tradition that the newly baked students from the high schools be driven around town in open carriages on the day they receive their diploma. This is always in the second half of June, and in the course of the afternoon they visit the home of every student in class - where they are treated to food and beverages until they can hardly stand. These days any form of carriage will do. This class of 2004 had opted for a lorry. It is a day where spirits run very high indeed, as you can see in the photo. And after all, why shouldn't they enjoy themselves? In the autumn most of these young people will enter university, and - as we say in Denmark - the serious life begins.
I only resized for the web. I couldn't get it over my heart to crop.
