Photographer's Note

A few meters from my former shot, in the middle of Odense Ĺ can a special artwork be seen. The Seahorse (Havhesten in Danish) was inspired by a poem of H.C.Andersen about the mermaid “Agnete og havmanden” (Agnete and the Seaman)

Carl Hugo Lisbjerg 1896-1958 made the artwork. It was first made in a smaller version for a public open-air swimming pool, but the town council decided to put a full-size version in the centre of Odense and 20th of July 1938 could it be seen here the first time spraying water from the nostrils.

Even made of bronze was the artwork in a bad condition after many years in the water and to celebrate the 200 years birthday of H.C.Andersen have the artwork been through a rejuvenation process. There’s even put light in the head – via opticsfibers and with the light source on the riverbank.

To give more view of this place I posted this photo showing spectators of the artwork and this taken the opposite direction
