Photographer's Note

Střekov Castle is one of the best preserved castle ruins in the Czech Republic. The castle is built on inaccessible rock above the Elbe River, 2.5 km from the town of Usti nad Labem. It was built before 1319 to protect the Elbe waterway. A major owner was in the 14th Century House Vartenberks. From the 17th century, the castle was abandoned. In 1992 the castle was restituted to their original owners - the family Lobkowitz
