Photographer's Note

Říp Mountain, located only a little north of Prague, is only 461 metres high, but it is very important hill for Czech nation. A traditional Czech legend says that first Czech people, coming to the area of Czech Republic, climbed this hill. Then, "Praotec Čech" (Forefather Bohemus) said: this is our new country. According to this legend, the word "Čech" (Czech) is derived from the name of "Praotec Čech". In reality, the first Slavs came to our territory in 6th century AD and "Praotec Čech" probably didn't exist. Říp Mountain is small, but quite significant hill, rising from lowlands around the Elbe River.
