High furnaces, a photo from Stredocesky, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

Four shaft lime kilns situated in the grounds of the former smelter Vojtěšská. Have been constructed and gradually put into operation in 1927 - 1929. Another new furnace was due to enlargement of production completed in 1940. After the production of pig iron in 70 years was no longer needed slackening lime, therefore the 60 and 70 years have demolished the first two furnaces. Late 90 years were removed from the remaining furnaces bridges, elevators, chimneys and all machinery technology. At present, supposedly a great chance to be declared a technical monument.

Wonderful testimony from the industrial age!
The furnaces are shot from a good angle and under a good light.
The green in the foreground is very appropriate and the plants growing on top are magnificent.
