Photographer's Note

An upward view of the Jerusalem / Jubilee Synagogue in Prague, taken from the street. It is sandwiched between 2 other buildings as can be seen here.

Built in 1906 in Moorish Revival style with Art Nouveau decoration (especially inside), it is an eye catching landmark on the way from the train station to the Charles Bridge. Prior to 1906, the Zigeuner Synagogue stood on the site, but it was demolished in an urban renewal campaign. During the period of Nazi German occupation in WWII, it was used to store confiscated Jewish property. It was closed as an active place of worship for the first time in over 100 years.
