HAPPY NEW YEAR
The clock is often used as a symbol for the end of a year.
10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… HAPPY NEW YEAR.
No fireworks this year. No toast with a glass of champagne in hand with all our loved ones and/or neighbours.
We are all eagerly awaiting the moment when we can close this terrible year 2020, which we would rather have skipped.
As a symbol of the passage of time, three photos of astronomical clocks that I was able to take this summer. Each from every country we visited.

Prague astronomical clock.
The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest clock still operating. The clock is attached to the south wall of the Old Town Hall on the Old Town Square in the Old Town of Prague

The Old Town Hall is considered one of the most important German profane buildings of the Renaissance.

Astronomical clock in St. Mary's Church, Rostock.
The monumental astronomical clock is located in the ambulatory and fills the entire space between the pillars behind the high altar. It is the oldest Hanseatic type and the only one whose medieval clockwork still works.

Hi Rob,great idea to celebrate the end of this terrible 2020 and to the new year whishes! In fact it will be a strange end of the year, all at home without fireworks and fest. 3 beautiful clocks, i saw only the Prague one in my life, so the 2 in the WS are useful post for me,made in the usual top quality. Hello Rob,
Wonderful three astronomical clocks pictures from different locations.
Main picture is a great close-up with its magnificent elements, first place in Preague we went to see during our visit there.
Rightly chosen, yet the WS's are no-less attractive and intriguing subject for photography.

Hello Rob,
I remember this famous clock from the old Prague Tower. I took a movie of it when the figures come out on the hour. Fantastic sharpness and perfect control over perspective. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
In recent years I have had the pleasure to watch and photograph similar astronomical clocks in Gdansk and Olomouc, but none of those levels this one in Prague for beauty and marvellous details. I was here in 1983 but I am sure my photos don't come anywhere near this one. The sharpness of this photo, and of both WS, is truly stunning.
I wish you a good 2021. After 2020 anything has to be better.

Hello Rob,
Three clocks, serving the same purpose but all decorated with fine individuality. They make superb subjects for photography and you have not disappointed us. The details of each are clear for us to enjoy.
The complicated mechanisms and artistic decorations reveal just how skilled certain people are, within a population, to solve a problem. With similar skills and perseverance, I feel sure that we will be able to overcome this terrible virus and make 2021 a medically, safer year. Wouldn't it be great if all nations could cooperate on the safety of the world.

Ook al is het al een eeuwenoude klok, hij loopt nog prima zodat we precies weten wanneer dit jaar exact voorbij is, hoewel het aflezen van de wijzerplaat nog niet zo makkelijk is. De details en kleuren zijn prachtig.

Fabulous, this close-up of the Prague clock, which we can see in our house in detail, is a work of art that we see better here, than in the street with many people around us.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly realized factors, in this precious image.
Well done. I like very much.

Hi Rob,
The large version is wonderfully detailed and well exposed. You really need the large version to see all the beautiful details in the clock. I wonder how many people can work out what the different parts of the clock measure, or how to tell the time from it?

Hello Rob,
You've chosen the best clock for the main. I've seen this clock when I was in Prague. But I've not seen the close-up details of it till I see here. It's so much better than seeing the real one. The skeleton man fascinated me the most , it's so many many features to admire and wonder.
The rest of the clocks in the WS - the good thing is that I don't need to go to Leipzig ( again ) and Rostock. Your beautiful photos are more than enough for me.

great collection of beautiful old clocks.
Yes, I suppose this year was different from previous years but we did manage to make those wonderful trips, you have visited Germany, Poland and Czech Republic. This was such a photographically fruitful trip!
Great level of details here it was worth to record a close up of these amazing clocks.
I have been there in person but didn't have a chance to admire all the little details of it.

a nice idea to use this trio of astronomical clocks to see us into a New Year and also hopefully a better year. All three photos are fine but my preference if only for the fine details and colours in the main in Prague.
