Photographer's Note
Acid rains and air pollution (1950-1990) from old coal power plants caused serious damage or complete destroy of big area of spruce´s mountain forests in East Germany, Czech Republic and Poland.
It´s a part of dry forest on hillside of Jested hill (1012m) in North Bohemia. In the lower part grows new forest (resistants types of spruces and pine trees) - new hope for mountain forests in Central Europe.

so misty, so mysterious, and you have captured it so well. I think the use of bw here enhances the mood.

A very special atmosphere is created by the gradient of brightness, It is almost black at the bottom, white at the top, and very interesting all the way up. Excellnt b/w composition, Jiri.

Wow, what a scary picture, very moody. Truly excellent composition. The gradient makes the picture very interesting and the trees really give a nice depth to the picture. The smaller trees in the front are slightly (but very slightly) distracting, but I suppose you weren't allowed to cut those down. :)

Haunting image, very moody, and they're just trees!
B&W has worked very well here, taking the range from back at the bottow, to white at the top.
Great shot.

Really moody shot, and scary as Björn wrote. Could be something from a horror movie or maybe a science fiction dystopia. B&W is definitely the way to go in this picture, it really adds to the mood.

A photo with a mood. That mist covering dead trees is very impressive and I like the gradient of greys from bottom to top.
Well done.

Beautiful. As others saw it I also mainly like the gradient brightness from bottom to top and the various tones of greys from foreground to background. Two directional gradients with sharp silhouettes. Very well done.

Jiri what a picture! So mystic, so misty. I like the contours of the dead threes. The B & W makes the picture. Well done!

I like this surreal landscape, Jiri. You chose the best weather conditions for taking a mysterious shot, and you certainly succeed in transmit that mystery. Well done!

Great documentation of aforest being killed by man's mistake and carelessness. But, Nature can not be overpowered, she will get back to her shape as soon as she can.
Cheers
