Photographer's Note

Grad Grobnik, as the old city center, has been inhabited since prehistoric times, after which Illyrians come and the Romans after them, and making fortress to defend against the barbarians. Then it falls into the hands of the Goths and Franks, and from 10 century belongs to Croatia. From the year in 1225 is owned by the dukes of Krk.

This area has been witnessing turbulent era during the Tatarstan battle to Grobničko Polje (Grobnik Field) in the year 1241, the battle which the Croats won and so stopped the Tatars.

Name Grobnik alone and its representatives mentioned 1288th in one of the most important legal documents of feudal Europe, "Vinodolski zakonik" (Vinodols law. In it Grobnik is placed as possession of Krk Dukes who would later take the name Frankopani. Still in 1225. of the Croatian - Hungarian King Andrew II is given the authority over Vinodol under which Grobnik belonged to.

Life in Grad Grobnik in the 15th Grobniku and 16 century is characterized by invasion of the Ottomans , and Grobnik from Frankopans goes into the hands of their relatives Zrinski. Due to political reasons In the Year of 1671 Habsburgs Vienna slain Ban Petar Zrinski, and very rich Grobnik was robbed and committed to the Austro-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce.
