Photographer's Note
Dubrovnik survived the bombing of the Yugoslav People's Army but it is uncertain if it will survive the onslaught of tourists. The local inhabitants whose families have lived within the city's walls for centuries are abandoning the city, having chosen to live elsewhere. Why? Because in Summer it is not unusual for four or five cruise ships to dock outside the city and for thousands of visitors to crowd the narrow old streets. To their numbers one must add all of those who come in yachts and overland in cars and buses.
The local people and their genteel way of life are swamped. No wonder they choose to abandon their family homes. A sad outcome. Soon enough, without its inhabitants, Dubrovnik will become a theme park.

Hello dear Klaudio, Nice to see you after the break. I see that you visited your homeland (or near it). Yes, many inhabitants of the popular places like Venice or Barcelona or Florence have enough of tourists. and I hate these big cruisers with thousands of tourists invading the place. Interesting and sad reflections.
Nice view of the street in Dubrovnik with the church in the end of it. Beautiful pavement.
Kind regrad s MAlgo

Hello Klaudio,
The onslaught of tourists is a difficult problem without an easy solution. Of course attractive places will attract tourists and, to a certain extent, many of the inhabitants rely on tourists for their livelihood but sometimes you can get too much of a good thing!
You have certainly captured the mood, the beauty of the city and, despite the inclement weather, the influx of people. Never mind, you have also been able to capture the beauty of the sky.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Klaudio,
Very sad, but a fate that also seems to be befalling Venice and other tourist hotspots. We photographers also need to shoulder our portion of the blame of course. The town wants the tourist income but the residents don't want the tourists, difficult to see how the situation can be resolved to everybody's satisfaction. I like this picture of the city under a downpour. Excellent lights and colours and very good sharpness.

Hello Klaudio
I fear you're right about Dubrovnik, and indeed many other beautiful places around the globe. And I have to admit to being one of the besiegers a couple of years ago, when we sailed into Cavtat just south of here on a yacht delivery trip, and spent a day here. Your shot of Stradun at least doesn't look too crowded: probably because of the rain that has kept people in the bars and cafes. The light is particularly pleasing.
Regards
Will

I know this view! You captured it with lovely colours in the sky that, I'm sure were, at the same time, recorded in many selfies.
I arrived by bus from Podgorica and then flew to London from Dubrovnik (you didn't mention airplanes!). It was early April but even then the Old Town was packed with visitors. I'm scared to think what it is like in the summer.
Local people suffer not only because of the noise and the crowds but also rising prices and facilities for tourists replacing those for the residents.
Best wishes
Kasia
