Photographer's Note

Here's another photo of my series from the Rila monastery. This is the monastery church - "The Natiity of the Virgin", built in the mid-XIXth century. The temple has five domes, three altars and two chapels.
What is interesting about the church regarding the most recent history (of it and Bulgaria in general) is that the heart of the last ruling Bulgarian tsar is buried there. Boris III died in 1943 and his final resting place was the Rila monastery, but after the end of WWII, when the communists came to power, his body was exhumated and buried to a place still unknown. Only his heart remained there.
I must say the church itself is a masterpiece - both from the inside and the outside (I already showed a detail of the murals under the arches (the arches are seen in this photo)).
