Photographer's Note

Not knowing the Regional Museum of History in the town of Kardjali means not knowing what good is! The Museum contributes to its visitors' comfort and good time.
It is housed in a unique building (an architectural monument of culture), which is situated in a wonderful park with more than 30 different plant species (some of them are unique for Bulgaria).
The construction of the building was launched at the beginning of the 1920s and it was designed by prof. arch. Pomeriantsev - a lecturer at the Art Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The building had originally been planed to be a Muslim religious school but it never came to perform such a function. Its conversion to a museum took place in the 1980-1983 period, after the design of arch. Elena Kondeva and the artistic arrangement of Velizar Petrov. The singular architecture of the building of the museum and its exposition halls, situated on three storeys, with a total exposition area of 1300 square meters, are tastefully arranged with all the love and professionalism needed. The exhibited cultural valuables, which have been collected for more than half a century, are the fruit of the systematic, consistent and continuous research work of the museum specialists. The messages from the past tell us of bygone human civilizations, of the achievements of the national artistic genius, and they inspire pride in us for "we have also given something to the world".
