The ruins of tower of Bukelon is erecting on hill in immediate imminence with the boundaryes between Republic of Turkey an Bulgaria.Builded in antic times like a roman fortpost in the middle ages bysantines rebuild a destroyed fortress used a bases of earlyer fortifications.The fortress was taken by bulgars in IX cen by the troops of khan Krum ,as the name calculated at the fortress hew It with inscription on an exultant pillar, found, to digs in the capital Pliska together with the names to a range of other fortresses captured during reigning to the khan.
Later in XI cen. the tower like all bulgarian lands belongs to Byzantium for nearly 200 years and in the beggining of XIII th cen. after a great battle near the fortress the bulgarian army spreadeagle the militaries of a IV th crusade captured the First latin emperor flemish Count Boduen De Flander and his first night like a prisonier he is taked here in the prison of the tower.
In the next years the tower is used by latins bysantines and bulgars and often it;s taken from hands by hands to the middle of XIV cen. than the fortress and all area of Adrianopolis /todays city of Odrin/Edirne is only 10 kilometters away/ captured by ottoman turks.
Today only the ruins erecting like a souvenir from the past.
