Photographer's Note

Yesterday my wife and I got on our bikes to deliver some food and stuff to my wife's mum, who lives some 20 kilometres north of Antwerp and can't leave the house.

It's the kind of an emergency, essential travel we are still allowed to do, but we did make a pleasant bike ride out of it and along the way, discovered some sights we had never seen before.

On bike, you take alternative and more interesting routes than you'd normally take by car.

SCHILDE is a well-off village north of Antwerp. It's famous for its villa's of often French-speaking or Dutch rich folks (not my parents-in-law).

This is a grand old farmhouse, which I believe is now owned by a private company. It is built in a farmhouse style that is typical for the rural region north of Antwerp (the Kempen), but you very, very rarely see them this big and this well preserved.

Although it is not far from where my in-laws live, I'd never seen it before!

Stay safe!
