Photographer's Note

Among all the advantages which this marvellous site offers which is TE, the meetings between us are always very interesting. Yesterday, we thus decided, Marianne (Here)and me, to meet us in our pretty city. I thus dedicate this photograph to Marianne in remembering very an owl meets and very pleasant moments spent in his company. A small WS for you Marianne :-)

The prestigious bridge of Fragnée was built for the World Fair of Liege in 1905. It escapes the First World War, but doesn’t resist the second. However, it is rebuilt into 47-48 by accurately respecting its forms and designs of pre-war period. To the creation of the bridge, the decorative part is entrusted to the architect inhabitant of Liège Paul Demany the majority of the sculptures will be entrusted to the chisel of Mr Rousseau. The bridge was recently entirely restored.
On two banks, the entries of the bridge are marked by the presence of two granite pylons. With their top, four bronze statues trônent, known as “the Fames” which rest on a granite capital of the Vosges. Leant with these pylons, draw up themselves, on each side of the river, two allegorical figures out of bronze. They symbolize the “Old river” and the “New river”. The pylons are connected between them by a wrought iron balustrade.
