A bike ride in the late afternoon, February 2021

DAMME, WALKING PATH AROUND THE SMALL CITY

Would you like to enjoy a unique combination of nature and culture close to Bruges? Then visit the ramparts of Damme, in the province of West Flanders. The walking path is accessible for prams and runs on top of the ramparts. From here you have a beautiful view of the surrounding nature and the town. The banks of the Damse vaart are ideal for beautiful cycling trips. During the walk or bike ride you can see numerous amphibians, insects and birds. In winter Damme is known for the presence of large groups of wintering geese.

Hi John,very nice composition from the countryside close to Bruges, a very frozen morning but the perfect light to take the colord and the sharpness in the best way, i like the famous cathedral in the left and the long shadows too. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hallo John,
Ik was er ooit op een koude lentedag. Niet zo koud als de winterdag wanneer jij er was maar er stond toch heel wat wind.
De amfibieën heb ik duidelijk gemist. Geen idee meer of ik veel insecten of vogels zag.
Maar ik herinner me dit pad nog wel en het zicht tussen de bomen op de kerk met zijn speciale toren. Tenminste voor wie uit Brabant komt, is dit een speciale kerktoren.
Prachtig licht dat ons wel even doet wegdromen uit het koude gevoel van sneeuw en rijp op het gras.

Lepo drvece i arhitektura u pozadini, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i perspektivom.

Kod mene je isto bio lep dan sa suncem i topao za ovo dova godine.

Hello John,
The unusually designed church is a remarkable piece of clerical architecture and a strong focal point in the distance. Even then the photo is dominated by the trees and their long shadows from the low February sun. It was a bright and lovely day but it looks very cold. The colours and light are quite fantastic, so that bicycle ride was worth the trouble.

Die toren is heel herkenbaar, ook al staat hij aan de rand van je frame. Mooi helder winterlicht, scherpe schaduw vooraan. Mooi werkje.

Hi John,
I have a feeling that I have seen this tower already but here we have a very original composition with the trees grove in the foreground attracting the main attention while the church in the distance is added in the distance as an extra benefit, as if by accident. Great light here so warm and it contrasts with the snow all over the place.

I love this!
Winter trees can make such strong, f/g features.
You did well shooting towards the sunlight, so that the shadows are important, too, acting like guide lines.
The f/g is full of interest, with the church an unexpected bonus, perfectly placed in the b/g.

Hallo John,
Wat een prachtige winterdag was dat met zelfs een beetje sneeuw langs het pad. De bomen in het midden en daarbij ook de kerktoren links steken met een aangename warme gloed af tegen de blauwe lucht.
