Always a bicycle visit, May Corona time in Belgium,
Middelburg Belgium come at the Netherland borders, forbidden bring a visit to Netherlands, borders closed (2 month) April - May
History:
The church is still surrounded by a largely walled cemetery closed by a beautiful entrance gate from 1861. An iron gate hangs from two high square bluestone fence pillars with convex crowns. A pedestrian passage is marked on either side by a round bluestone post. Originally the cemetery was closed off to the street by a high iron fence on a bluestone wall, which was removed in the 1950s
The late Gothic church, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, was built in 1452 on the initiative of Pieter Bladelin near his newly built castle. In 1458 the construction of the church was completed and P. Bladelin acquired parish rights for his church. In 1470 a chapter of six canons was attached to the church and in 1480 the church was made a Collegiate Chapter. Before 1559, the parish came under the diocese of Tournai, deanery Aardenburg, later the deanery and the parish belonged to the diocese of Bruges, now the parish falls under the diocese of Ghent, deanery Maldegem.

Hello John,
Two more days have gone, so here is a new photo, very punctually. The green plants on the wires, and the hedge below them, form a very good foreground to this view of the red brick church. I like the low perspective which accentuates the size of the church and also includes a good view of the cloudy but still quite bright sky. The photo has a very good clarity, well saturated colours and fine contrasts.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The trees and the edge are framing well the church. The point of view is showing the details of the church. There is a good cntrast between the colours of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hi John
The news out of Belgium about COVID hasn't been good lately so - stay safe which by keeping to your bike you should be.
A good photo of this old church with what looks like grape vines in front (for church wine?)
cheers

Hello John, Nice view of this old brick church. I like here how the trees are cut and maintained. Lovely colours in spite of the cloudy sky.
In Warsaw, we have lockdown again. The elderly people like me are recommended not go out of homes.
Best regards Malgo

Hello John,
The espalier in the f/g is very attractive, making a green fence through which we can easily see the red brick details of the church. The building is very well positioned in the frame, with the tall spire nicely off-centre.
I rather like the grey, cloudy sky, which does have changes of hues, where there are breaks in the clouds and the light is trying to penetrate.
If Belgium has been anything like Northern England, we haven't had many bright, sunny days, recently.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Dag John
Stone and greenery always got along well in photos; consequently you beautifully used this combination for a refreshing assembly, compensating for the sky's bad moods!
Thanks for showing and explaining below.

Hello John,
Good sharpness with nice soft pastel colours and diffused lighting. The trellised vines in the fg add depth and layering to the composition. Tfs!

Hallo John, the trees in the foreground are pruned aesthetically. That old stonework has a long history well detailled in the photo note. The building comprises a tower. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hallo John,

Hi John
A strong capture of the classic church with much detail and good use of light to make the image seem divine. Lovely sense of height and scale with nice touch of green to give this a punchy finishing touch. Well done shot.

very interesting architecture and what a original decoration with the fence.

Bonsoir, cher ami John,
Je suis en pays de connaissance à travers cet édifice religieux. J'aime quand les églises sont à taille humaine (je ne dédaigne pas les cathédrales, bien sûr !).
Belle prestation photographique.
Amitiés.

Hello John,
This church is beautiful, and it looks nice beneath the cloudy and moody sky. What really catches my eye in this photo are the leaves that form a kind of trellis overhead. It's a lovely scene. Take care!

Hi John.
A splendid view of this beautiful brick church, the brick of its factory with its red color stands out well from the cloudy sky, this kind of fence with plants is very beautiful and original.
Wonderful colors, excellent sharpness and light.
Very well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
