Second picture
In my photo you can see the renovated lock to control the creeks
This new polder region covers more than twenty thousand hectares and extends from Knokke-Heist to Maldegem and the south of Bruges.
In total, more than five hundred kilo meters of watercourses must be closely monitored for their flow, so that water nuisance for humans and animals can be kept to a minimum.
The creation of the Oostkustpolder is part of the ongoing rationalization of the existing polders and waterways in West Flanders.
The Middenkustpolder was already established in the province, whereby five existing polders were merged.
Through these mergers, the management of the vulnerable polders and waterways is modernized with various water lock systems
I hope you like it.

Hallo John,
Oops, de nota is er nog niet.
Dus even gokken: Damme ?
De foto toont excellent het oneindig vlakke land waarin jij woont.
De vele wilde gele bloemen maken het landschap heel charmant.
Achter het waterslot vinden we enkele perfecte weerspiegelingen in het kalme water.
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello John,
Something seems to have gone wrong, since there is no note. But it doesn't matter. We can see a quite modern lock regulating the flow of water in the timeless rural scenery. It may be les picturesque than something built of stone or bricks, but it is probably more efficient and doesn't need so much maintenance. The buildings and meadows are certainly beautiful, and so are the colours of this technically excellent photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo John, that lock is used to regulate the level of water in the canals. These waterways crisscross the polder area. That flat land is occupied by farmhouses, pastures and fields. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello John,
Somehow your note seems to have disappeared. But never mind, I strongly suspect that this lock is the same one which you showed to us about two weeks ago here:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Belgium/photo1584547.htm
If I am correct, you are now showing it to us from the opposite direction, so the canal, with its lines of trees on one side and ploughed field on the other, is now behind the camera.
This is a very modern looking lock, built of concrete and steel rather than the old style of stone and wood but it is not unattractive. The green fields and lovely yellow flowers brighten up the surroundings as also do the houses with their lovely red roofs.
Lovely light, rich colours, perfect exposure and excellent detail and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Take care and stay safe.
Kind Regards,
John.

Hallo John,
Een mooi landschap met vele groene tinten, afgewisseld met de kleine gele stipjes van de vele bloemetjes. De sluis in de sloot is mooi in het midden van de foto geplaatst.

Hello John, I imagine that locks such as this are necessary to keep the water in check.
Maybe not the most attractive of locks, it nevertheless teaches about your country and how the waterways fit into the landscape.
Very interesting.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello John,
It seems there was a problem adding your notes but your title explains the subject. The lock is modern, both in materials and style, especially when I compare it with locks on the canals in the U.K.
I imagine, it is very efficient was deemed necessary for this stretch of the canal.
The surrounding pasture looks lovely with its verdant grass, decked with wild flowers, so typical of late spring.
It looks as if there may be one of your recent farmhouses, in the b/g, showing the characteristic terracotta roof.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher ami John,

Groet Rob

Good evening John,
The lock built on this spot probably to regulate the water current which by itself looks shallow and slow.Anyway, looking around we can see a beautiful green field with endless perspective of the flat-land.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike
