Description: of Narrow street Sint-Amands Bruges.
From Sint-Amands to Steenstraat. Name derived from the former Sint-Amandskapel until 1817 located on the corner with Sint-Amandsstraat. Cut through with hotel function and secondary trade activities; going back to 14th-century trading activities see so-called "Parysche Halle" (numbers 6-8) with frontage at Zilverstraat number 3A, demolished in 1965 and replaced since 1980 by new construction with hotel function to a design by architect L. Vermeersch (Bruges).
On the east side, the street is covered with braces that since 1928 have been supporting buildings on Steenstraat number 26 and number 28. Narrow, cobblestone side street with slightly curving line, narrowing to Steenstraat to alley. On the east side, side walls of buildings on Steenstraat.
Varied buildings whose oldest cores rise to the 16th century; anchored brick spout, point or frame and Flemish facades, but adapted in the 19th century with regard to windows (number 3). Number 1 consolidating "Artistic Restoration" in 1978-1981 after design by architect A. Dugardyn (Bruges); number 4 with preserved core see nut and children's beams, bluestone thresholds added in 1872 and changes to the ground floor in 1938 to a design by architect L. Dugardyn (Bruges). Also, buildings with an old core and façade adapted to 19th-century taste, in particular number 2 with a plastered frame façade under a corrugated saddle roof and a barred cellar mouth; number 5 with mansard roof and windows in plastered frames with diamonds.

Hello John,
I have a feeling this may have been an anonymous backstreet before the start of mass tourism a few decades ago, when the demand for accommodation, restaurants and shops increased dramatically. Now it is a chic alley of well restored, charming buildings. You captured this well in a photo with nicely saturated colours and fine depth, partly achieved by the inclusion of the couple walking towards us.
I saw your updated introduction text. I am touched and honored by the reference to me, but I think you greatly exaggerated my humble role. I am sure lots of members wanted you to remain on the site. But thank you so much anyway.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of the arch and of the buildings. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Hallo John,

Bonjour, cher ami John,
Il faut savoir emprunter les petites rues où se cachent des merveilles, où certaines maisons vous parlent du passé.
Ici, cette venelle abrite des lieux bien agréables.
Amitiés.

Hello John,
This is a narrow alley but has become useful as an outdoor bar and restaurant.
You have used the buildings well to concentrate attention from the f/g to the arched opening into the street.
There are lots of lovely, textural details and warm hues.
You timed the shot well, to include the approaching couple strongly.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
taking photos in winter time in a city is not easy. The shadows are so deep and less light in general available.
Great effect here. You have found a nice spot here.
The asymmetry makes it feel quite pleasant for the eye.
Very well seen and captured,
M

curious that old arch with a tower-house above. I can see the space of the narrow street is used for the restaurant too.

Hello John,
This is a nice view down the narrow cobblestone street which even has an outdoor cafe (or restaurant). I like the arched gate in the distance. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hallo John, that narrow cobbled street has a lot of character. The arch is located next to a cafe. Most of the buildings here are made in red bricks. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hi John
two key points here, one on the left, one on the right. Its great that you have the door straight and vertical on the left, and the arch on the right are important visual pieces. Nice shot indeed. cheers

Hello John,
Good sharpness and perspective with the arch well positioned near the vanishing point. Superb warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky and red brick facades of the buildings. Tfs!

Hi John
Love your viewpoint looking into the alley, hoping I can follow the path wandering between these beautiful old buildings and beyond! You have great light and detail under shade and the visitors are vital component too. Excellent observation and well executed.
Best regards

Hi John.
Beautiful the perspective of this street, with the house in the background, as if closing the street, if it were not for the arch under it, she gives a great charm to the corner, where we also find a pub.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello John,
I like the atmosphere of this narrow street. The cobblestones, older architecture, and the arch, are all very attractive. There must be many similar streets in Bruges. It is such a charming city. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! :-)
