I stood with my back to the lion bridge

History:

Lionstreet;

The lion bridge interrupts the Leeuwstraat and runs over the Speelmansrei.
The latter was once called 'lee', from which the name of the bridge and the street are derived.

The current bridge dates from 1627 and was built by the Bruges mason-master Jan de Wachter. Around 1628-1630 the city council looked for something to embellish the bridge and placed an order with Jeroom Stalpaert. He produced two Bruges lions. In 1792 the bridge was officially named "Leeuwbrug". At the end of the eighteenth century the lion was pushed into the water on the western parapet and replaced by a new one. The second lion was replaced in 1955 due to the poor condition of the stone.

Lep most i ulica, lepe fasade i toranj sa satom.
Lepa arhitektura, lep deo garda.
Lepo pokazano, dobro uhvacen trenutak.

Hallo John,
Een mooi gezicht op het straatje waar het belfort prachtig bovenuit torent. De warme kleuren van de gevels zijn heel aangenaam op deze bewolkte dag. De brug doet het goed op de voorgrond.

Hi John,

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the houses and of the belfry. The cloudy sky does not hurt the colors output. Have a nice day.

Ce cadrage avec le pont et ce bombage sur le pavage ces deux murs de pierre et quelle rue en fond cette tour qui ressort avec les horloges tout en noir et en dorure ces personnes quel ensemble et vu ces façades ces couleurs superbe

The cobbled stone, I feel draws attention into the whole capture - a typical olde architecture of this place which deserve being visited. A great capture at this point of view with sense of great depth and how appropriate the tower rests the focus! Lovely mixed of traditional matured colours to entice the eye and there's lots to look at this charming place! Excellent capture.

Hello John,
A very good photo of the narrow street disappearing behind the curve, a few beautiful brick buildings and the tall church tower rising high above the city. The photo is perfectly sharp and it's enlivened by a number of persons. I like how you included a glimpse of the cobblestone old bridge in the foreground.

Hi John,
this is such a photogenic town. And the belfry tower is definitely my favourite subject there.
Here you show it from yet another perspective which I don't recall visiting now.
Interesting effect with the foreground bridge leading the eye there and framing the scene and yet blurring out with the main focus being on the view in the centre.
In spite of the grey weather the tower details are so well defined. Fantastic dynamic range with preserved details of the sky as well.

This is a nice shot of Bruges. The angle of the shot gives the photo nice depth and direction. The lighting and colors are fine as is the sharpness and detail. The people add a nice sense of scale to the shot.

Dag John,
Door de verhoging van de brug op de voorgrond krijgt de foto extra diepte en toornt het Belfort prachtig uit boven het rood en bruin van de gevels aan se Speelmansrei.

Hallo John, that old cobbled street has a lot of charm. The pov includes the belfry with its clock in the bg. The red brick houses are very common in that area. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Good sharpness and perspective, although I might have sharpened the stone lion at left seeing as the one at right is pin sharp. The bg clocktower makes a nice focal point. Tfs!
