Photographer's Note

This time the picture from my not old archive - from the autumn 2016 trip to Belgium. I have a lot pf photos from Bruges, but it seems that John has shown us all beautiful places. But I still found some nice places that were not shown. Here I like the sculpture of the bikers. I hope that you will also like these bikers - real and in art.

It is the square T'Zand. Ifound in Google and translated by Google Translate from Dutch:

't Zand is a square and neighborhood in the center of Bruges. The square is the largest in the city.

In the middle of the square is a fountain with four sculptures, created by Stefaan Depuydt and Livia Canestraro in 1985-'86. The groups of sculptures represent scenes from the past of Bruges: the group with the ladies presents the four Flemish cities of Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent and Kortrijk. The second group, with the sailor and the fish, refers to the historical bond that Bruges had with the sea through the ages. A third group symbolizes the Flemish polder plain. Finally, the cyclists are accompanied by the Flemish folk heroes Nele and Tijl Uilenspiegel.

Around the square there are various shops, catering establishments and entertainment venues. On the south side of 't Zand is also the Bruges Concert Hall since 2002.
