Saint Cornelius Church Aalter centre.

Third photo of the same church

Peter statue
The statue of Peter from Burgundian sandstone stands on a plinth. Peter is carrying a gold-engraved book in his left hand and gilded keys in his right hand. For the Catholics he was the first pope, for the Orthodox the first patriarch.

Stained glass window Pieta
The Piėta stained glass window is designed by Gust Ladon and was installed in 1925. In the center we see Mary, mother of Sorrows, with her deceased son at the foot of the cross. In the left path of light, the apostle John is depicted with a crown of thorns, as well as Saint Elisabeth of Hungary. In the right light path we can still see Francis of Assisi, Carolus Borromeus and Mary Magdalena.

Cornelius glass window
Saint Cornelius, Pope and Martyr, is the patron of the parish. Above the Saint Cornelius altar, placed in 1909, we see the largest stained-glass window in the church: it is divided into four light channels. In the third path of light, Saint Cornelius is seated begging for the Holy Trinity to intercede for the many pilgrims: women with children and farm laborers with livestock.

I hope you like it
