A visit to the church with my bicycle of Sint in Eremo on 1 km of the Netherlands borders a small village with very good eel restaurants

Rural church, nicely implanted in the Sint-Janspolder with surrounding planted, partly fenced in and surrounded by a canal, protected as a landscape. An iron gate between square bricked pillars and a path runs in the axis of the portal to the church.
A first small church, probably built in the 13th century, almost disappeared during the floods of the end of the 14th and early 15th centuries. The map of P. Pourbus (1561-1571) of the Brugse Vrije shows a small cross church with a crossing tower that was largely destroyed by new floods and the religious troubles of the end of the 16th century. The current church building dates from 1682, possibly preserving the walls of the former choir. A first mass was dedicated on June 15, 1683, at the feast of the Holy Trinity. Most of the remaining furniture also dates from the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century and is by H. Hagheman from Bruges. The bell tower would date from 1710. The rococo stucco in the interior is dated 1774.
Thorough restoration work took place under the supervision of architect M. De Vleeschhouwer after the protection as a monument in 1975 and were finished in 1984 (confer memorial plaque). The small one-aisled hall church has four bays with a three-sided choir and sacristy on a square floor plan with an attached toilet in the southeast. The so-called blessing house has been built for pilgrims against the first southern bay.

I hope that you enjoy it
