Photographer's Note

J+9/D+9 of the cruise. These are the cooling chimneys of a nuclear plant on the side of the Schelde river, which I believe is the Doel power station. The white smoke is only the steam of water coming out tof the colres so no danger at all here.
After 10 days sailing, upon arriving in Antwerp for a tall ships and other sailing ships gathering, it feels a bit strange to be welcome by what some people view as the worse pollution provider, the nuclear industry. This is the price of power, at least a price to pay to get electrical power at a reasonnable cost (from an economical point of view)... But I do not mean that there are no alternative solutions and that I am not in favour of them, if economically viable.

An extract form Wikipedia on Doel :
Doel is a subdivision of the municipality of Beveren in the Flemish province of East Flanders. It is located near the river the Scheldt, in a polder of the Waasland.
To the north of Doel one can find a Electrabel nuclear power plant with 4 reactors with a total output of 2,800MW delivering electricity to customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
