Photographer's Note

The "Torengebouw" or Tower Building, Europe's first skyscraper, was built from 1929 to 1932 and would remain the highest European residential building until the fifties, although barely 100m tall. Hit by a V-bomb in January 1945, its steel skeleton construction withstood the attack without too much damage. Situated on Antwerp's main commercial street, it is photographed here from a rather unusual angle.
