Photographer's Note

Durant la randonée faite dans un parc près de l'atomium pour ceux qui connaîsse bruxelles et ses environs. Je me demande de quel oiseau s'agit-il? Et de quel espèce aussi, si l'un d'entre vous le sais, ca me ferais plaisir de le savoir. J'y suis retourner ces jours-ci pour reprendre des photos de lui, mais il n'était plus là, dommage...

What you have here is a Grey Heron (Héron cendré), the latin name of which is Ardea cinerea. This species tends to eat mainly fish, although I've seen them eat crabs and even a small rodent! You've done very well to get him as sharp as you have and filling the frame so nicely. My only thought is that it's slightly overexposed. Nevertheless, well captured :-D

Nice capture of this heron with the only minor problem being the slight overexposure on the head - as pointed out by Adrian. Lots of good details on the feathers. We had one of these herons winter in our local pond, but he's gone now, probably to seek a mate elsewhere. Maybe your heron has gone a courting, too ;-))

Very nice picture of this grey heron Gian. Clever use of dof and well framed too. Though I have to agree with adrian - it is a little overexposed, but still a very nice picture. Well done.

Je crois qu'il s'agit d'un héron cendré. Une espèce protégée en Belgique. Ce bel oiseau est hélas une plaie pour tous les propriétaires d'étang de jardin. Le héron utilise ces espaces pour se restaurer sans trop de difficultés. C'est un oiseau très craintif et très difficile à photographier sans télé. Félicitations.
