Photographer's Note

This shot has been taken in the entrance of the Palace of Justice, the most important court building in Belgium. It was built between 1866 and 1883 in the eclectic style by architect Joseph Poelaert.
It was the biggest building constructed in the 19th century. More on Wiki.

what a wonderfully symmetric composition. the detail and depth of field are stunning. i like your inclusion of the figure in the corner, the red coat contrasts well with the natural stone colours, and they also give the picture a sense of scale, emphasising the size of this magnificant building.

Hello Malgorzata - What a cracking shot. I can quite see why the lady in red is craning her neck to look at the architectural detail, it is incredibly detailed and fine. This photo is exquisite and the architecture is equally beautiful. The person at the bottom of the stairs provides an excellent contrast to the uniform colours of the architecture and the details are just amazing. Incredible symmetry, sharpness and contrast. Hello Malgorzata,
This Palace of Justice is a real masterpiece of architecture and you took a great shot of the inside, showing a mix of different styles that work surprisingly well together and bring up sensations from the past. As a matter of fact, you could almost think it's a huge cardboard temple for an Indiana Jones movie ! Did you notice the red marks on the stairs ? Could it be Cesar's blood ? ;)

no to jest wspaniala i imponujaca architektura, zapiera dech w piersiach. Pieknie wykonane jak zawsze. Fajnie ze wlaczylas te osobke, bo mazna miec skale porownania.

Howdy Siudzi,

Impressive architecture, Greek and Roman style in a collage of columns, like a multi-plex of ancient temples. And everything on a larger than human size scale, as evident by the statues.

Certainly a masterpiece of the 19th century, reflecting ancient empires.

The sepia tone and the comparison with the red coat are also attractive.

It still amazed me to see buildings built hundreds of years ago and not only still standing but are able to maintain their beauty. Awesome capture of this great architecture with good lighting. Good dof with sharp details. I'm you included the person for sense of proportion. Very well done, tfs.

very nice architecture and your POV shows it well, is almost a monochrome picture except the red jacket of the woman well positioned in the frame, there is something red on the stairs I do not understand what it is, very sharp...

in this area the building looks more like a classic revival than an eclethic building. fanatastic details, the sculptures at side of the stairs are very interesting and huge, very nice idea include the personage, without her we wouldn't have a sense of scale. TFS.a surprising view of this part of the town I never had seen in photos.

hi gosia. impressive, isn't it? you had the good light of may, mine was done on the first day of 2012 and a rainy day, when nobody cared about visiting the place :) you had a good deal of admirers here. i expect a maximum of ten people for my version :))
