Photographer's Note

I would like to take you on a tour of Belarus, former Soviet Republic, now independent. It is a little known and traveled country, certainly an off the beaten track kind of place. It is said to be ruled by Europe’s last dictator but politics aside it seems like a very interesting destination with one of Western Hemisphere’s slowest paces of life and it’s own attitude to…….. just about everything
Moreover it has many historical monuments, both from the time of Polish-Lithuania Commonwealth, of which it was a very important part, as well as the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union itself. The monuments from the latter part of it’s history certainly prevail over the former.
This is entrance to Brest Fortress, scene of a very important resistance point of the Red Army against invading Germans in June 1941.
