Photographer's Note

This is the Athena Fountain in front of the Austrian Parliament Building.

The four lying figures at the base are allegorical representations of the four most important rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The female statues above represent the legislative and executive powers of the state. They are dominated by the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, carrying a spear in her left hand and Nike, the Goddess of Triumph in the right.
