Photographer's Note

Schloss Hartheim, located at Alkoven in Upper Austria, some 14 km. from Linz, Austria, became notorious as one of the Nazi Euthanasia killing centers, where the killing program Action T4 took place.

The castle was built by Jakob von Aspen in 1600. It is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Austria.

In 1898, Prince Camillo Heinrich Starhemberg (1835 - 1900) donated the castle as a gift to the Upper Austria Charity Organization. With the help of additional donations, they used the castle from the beginning of the 20th century as a psychiatric institution (German: Psychiatrische Anstalt, but originally called the Idioten-Anstalt).

Hello Georg,
It is rather splendid this castle and you have captured it well. The chosen point of view shows us two different aspects and puts it in context with its surroundings. The foreground greenery makes a pleasant frame and contrasts nicely with the white walls. Good sharpness.

très belles lumières et couleurs, il y avait surement moyen de redresser un peu cette distorsion de perspective. Belle combinaison de rouge, bleu et vert.

Architektura tego zamku, jest proste i piękne, ale stanąć na dachu białe ściany i piękne wieże czerwone.
Bardzo dobre perspektywy doskonałe oświetlenie i kolory.
