Auf einem längst erloschenen Vulkankegel thront die 1157 als Wehranlage errichtete älteste Burg des Burgenlandes. Nach mehrmaligem Besitzwechsel gelangte die Burg 1524 in den Besitz der Familie Battyány.
On a long-extinct volcanic cone enthroned in 1157 built as a fortified castle oldest castle in Burgenland. After several changes of ownership, the castle came in 1524 in the possession of the Battyány family.
