León - Iglesia Parroquial de San Juan Bautista de Subtiaba

This Parish Church of San Juan Bautista de Subtiaba is located in the suburb Subtiaba of León. Only 10 to 15 minutes walking from the city center.

This church is built in the 1530s, reconstructed in 1710 and it is the oldest intact church of León.
Its relatively plain beige facade and precious wood interior is largely unadorned.
The church is also called the ‘Catedral Subtiaba’.

In León there are many churches. I don’t know what the reason is but I noticed that they were all built with the facade in the same direction. All except one.
I noticed it because I saw that everywhere the afternoon and evening sun shone on the front facade. This, of course, to my great pleasure and relief.
Imagine that the sun only shone on the church early in the morning. That would be nothing for me :)

In the WS two more pictures taken at a slightly different time.
