Photographer's Note

I took a drive on Monday to get out of the apartment for a while. Came across this cricket field nestled alongside the mountain road. Cricket is beyond doubt the national passtime. Being from the US, I have the typical tendency to find cricket somewhat incomprehensible from the start, but I think I can see why Jamaicans find it so interesting.

They picked up cricket simply by being a British colony, and cricket fields can be seen scattered throughout the island--in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. You can see that this one is used heavily, despite being a good five minutes walk from the nearest township.

Resized, adjusted levels slightly.
