Photographer's Note

I arrived Antigua late in the day, after numerous bus rides taking me from Cobán in the middle of the country. It was already dark by then, so I didnt get to see much. The gigantic market was closing down for the day and the streets were rather empty.

The next day was going to be the most memorable day of my travel. Volcan Acatenango, the third tallest mountain of Guatemala at approx. 4000 masl. was waiting for me above the clouds. I had time for some pictures on my way to the bus station. The atmosphere was very Latin American for some reason. Maybe it was the colourful houses, or maybe the cobblestone streets, or the combination.

Antigua Guatemala is the name of the city, which indicates that it's an old town. There are many signs of spanish architecture and it's often referred to as the most beautiful in Guatemala. It's located in a valley between some impressive volcanoes that are easily visible from the city.
