Photographer's Note

Another typical antiguan street just off the main zocalo- the town centre. Most of Antiguas buildings were constructed during the 17th and 18th centuries, when the city was a rich Spanish outpost and the catholic church was ascending to power. THe capital of Guatemala was transfered to Guatemala city after the 1773 great earthquake. In 1979 it was declared by Unesco as a world heritage site.
