Photographer's Note

On our first visit to Grenada i 2010 we visited the River Antoine rum distillery. It has been producing rum since 1785, and the methods have changed very little. It uses water from the local river to operate the water mill which crushes the sugar cane which is also local. The picture shows a man stoking the fire which is directly beneath the stills. Some of the rum is so strong in alcohol and you are not allowed to take it on board a plane. We were given a small taste of this, not for the faint hearted. Worth googling to find out more, especially if you are a rum lover.
