Photographer's Note

Just a colourful holidays snapshot of the large sandy beach East of Puerto Plata. Although that doesn't diminish that much the beauty of the beach, the sand is a bit less yellow than it appears on the image, contradicting the touristic name of the resort (Playa Dorada = Golden Beach). Well, I have seen much more delirious names in other touristic spots.

I should be already aware that not everybody in the world is so crazy about beaches like we Portuguese seem to be (and we are not alone, at least in South Western Europe) and I have the feeling that only in Portugal and Spain August in Dominican Republic is considered high season, but even so it always fascinates me seeing an almost deserted beach in a place surrounded by huge resort hotels. I bet that today most the beaches close to Lisboa had a ratio of persons per square meter at least 10 times higher than what you see in this picture.

I posted two complementary photos as WS's (1, 2).
