Photographer's Note

Dominica was battered by several major hurricanes in the 1990's. These ships were capsized during one of these storms and towed to shore where they have sat for years. It was strange to see these hulks on a picturesque shoreline such as this. But they are a good reminder of the destructive force of a hurricane.

This photo was also taken at the mouth of the Indian River. The body of water that this river empties into is named Prince Rupert Bay. It is rumored that when Christopher Columbus stopped in Dominica on one of his journeys to The New World, he anchored in Prince Rupert Bay.
