Photographer's Note

This is one of my personal favorite photos I came back with from Cuba, and one that i was hoping to find.

There's something so "Cuban" about kids playing baseball in the streets.

Here we have a teenager standing in the middle of a busy intersection, with his baseball glove, waiting for the other players (out of frame to the right) to pitch and hit the ball in his direction.

Its the boys job to yell out and tell everyone else he's playing with that its safe, there's no cars pitch it!

Watching them play for a few minutes was entertaining to say the least! There were a couple of close calls with the ball hitting passing cars, but overall they seemed to co-ordinate it fairly well.

Amazing to see them playing in the streets, especially with the cool looking architecture in the bg. What you see here is very typical of the buildings in Havana. Crumbling, in dire need of repair, but people still living in them - as you can see there's a man out on his balcony.

I've added a couple of WS photos, one that is zoomed in closer, but I posted this as the main photo just to show you the entire scene with the streets and the building.

Hope you like it
