Photographer's Note
Only a few days left for Cuban pictures and what to show? According to the TE motto, I would like to show something that was very interesting for me. I have seen the plantations of coffee, cashew nuts, tea, many spices, like pepper or vanilla, but for the first time I was on the plantation of cacao. On the main picture you see the fruits of cacao. Its seeds, cacao beans, are used to make cacao mass, cacao powder, and chocolate. The flowers are produced in clusters directly on the trunk and older branches; this is known as cauliflory. The fruits can be red, yellow and green.
In the workshop picture you can see how it looks inside. On the other, the man displaying the local products. The balls of the cacao powder, cacao butter in small wooden containers, the beans. You can see also Cucurucho - a local delicacy of the city of Baracoa. Wrapped in a cone-shaped palm leaf, it is a mix of coconut, sugar and other ingredients such as orange, guava and pineapple.
I hope you find it interesting.

Hello Malgo,
The cacao fruit I saw in India were green, I assumed they were not yet ripe, but reading your note, they may just have been a different variety. Fine close-up on this plant with some beautiful colour contrasts between the warm toned fruits and the green surroundings. Very nice ambient light.

Hello, Malgo!
When I was in Cuba I didn't see any plantation of cacao, but I didn't go to that region. In Brazil we have a lot of them in the Northeast of the country, in the state of Bahia. The strong colors of the fruits make them stand out beautifuly in the composition! Wonderful job!

Hello Malgo,
In your TE contributions is always, I dare say more than any other, an excellent combination of picture and note. Your lovely pictures are mostly a necessary illustration with your personal and interesting notes. I’m always looking forward for a new combination.

Hi Malgforzata,
My country especially East Malaysia is popular growing with this plant, I remember that my teacher brought a Cocao fruit and show it to us in class room. We have a famous drink named 'Milo' that produced by Coaca. Good frame, interesting composition, thanks for sharing.

Hello Malgorzata,
An interesting photo and note about cacao and chocolate. I don't think many people would recognise the source of chocolate in these fruits, at least I wouldn't. Nice and colourful photo with a fine lighting.

Bright red Cacao fruits, Malgo.
It is not so possible to make the connection from the red color to the brown outcome as we see the processed cacao in bags or cans at the shops.
magnificent photo and unusual.
Best regards,
Ike

Hello, Malgo!
Lately there has been a trend for less sugar and more cocoa in chocolate with a dark variety of up to 70% rather than the usual 30% in milk chocolate. Nice to see where the cocoa comes from. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
I have seen pictures of the red cacao fruit before but this is the first time that I get a view of the inside. Very strange.
Living in Belgium, of course I'm a chocolate lover :)
Beautiful sharp views from close by.
Why only a few days left to post pictures of Cuba?
Best regards, Paul
